EdTech company BOOKR secures €6.1 million Series A transaction to build literacy infrastructure for the AI age

August 27, 2026

BOOKR Kids, the award-winning education technology company behind BOOKR Class, has completed a €6.1 million Series A transaction comprising primary investment, secondary share purchases and the conversion of existing financing instruments. The transaction is led by TCEE Fund IV, advised by 3TS Capital Partners, with participation from a group of strategic and international investors.

The transaction marks a new phase in BOOKR’s ambition to become a leading global learning platform for literacy, language development and AI readiness – combining trusted content, rigorous pedagogy, classroom integration and measurable learning outcomes.

Alongside 3TS Capital Partners, the investor group includes Leib Lurie of US literacy nonprofit Kids Read Now; Robert Iskander, Chairman and CEO of SchoolDay, whose education data infrastructure serves more than 18 million learners; Infinit Capital Oy, the Koponen family’s Finnish investment vehicle; and Hungarian angel investor and Billingo CEO Albert Sárospataki through the FusionWise angel syndicate.

Founded in Budapest, BOOKR has grown from a literacy startup into an international learning ecosystem serving more than 600,000 paying students across over 3,000 schools in more than 30 countries. Its key markets span Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. BOOKR operates primarily in the global English-language-learning market, at the intersection of language acquisition, reading comprehension and literacy, while also serving German language learning and Hungarian first-language literacy. Its ecosystem includes thousands of interactive, curriculum-based digital books and more than 50,000 learning activities.

BOOKR Class brings together two layers of education technology that are often kept separate. Children access curriculum-based, animated, interactive books shaped by writers, artists, dramaturgs, psychologists, educators and literacy experts, with native-speaker narration and multisensory storytelling that strengthen language input, comprehension and empathy. For educators, Teacher Support AI provides diagnostic CEFR-aligned pathways, curriculum mapping, learning-data analysis, content recommendations and teaching materials. Generative AI is concentrated in the teacher environment under professional oversight; children encounter only bounded, age-appropriate functionality designed around privacy-by-design and the child-safety principles reflected in the EU AI Act. This combination makes learning engaging and safely personalised at scale.

Evidence, scale and global momentum

BOOKR’s growth is underpinned by measurable learning impact and an expanding body of international research. University-led research in Hungary found significantly stronger reading-comprehension development – a 20% improvement – among students using BOOKR’s interactive learning format than among the control group. In a 2026 pilot in Jordan, the treatment group improved by 1.08 points while the comparison group declined by 0.47 points (p<0.001), with higher usage associated with stronger gains. Together, these studies contribute to a broader evidence base spanning multiple countries, age groups and learning environments.

The company reported approximately USD 2.7 million in revenue in 2025 and remained EBITDA-positive. BOOKR has also received international recognition through the Bett Awards, repeated selection for HolonIQ’s Europe EdTech rankings, inclusion in the EdTech Insiders K–12 AI landscape, and the highest evidence rating in UNICEF’s assessment framework for EdTech solutions.

What the investment will unlock

  • Global expansion through deeper institutional partnerships and stronger distribution across priority markets in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
  • BOOKR Next for learners aged 10–18, extending the company’s evidence-based learning experience into secondary education and vocational pathways.
  • BOOKR Phonics, a structured eight-phase programme of decodable texts for early literacy.
  • International scaling of the newly launched Teacher Dashboard, including AI-powered curriculum alignment, data-informed differentiation and advanced progress analytics.
  • Speaking Studio, multilingual expansion and continued research connecting product

Investor perspective

BOOKR pairs outstanding content and rigorous pedagogy with something few companies from our region achieve: a genuinely international business. Through established partner networks across markets including Turkey, the UAE, Jordan and China, it has built a geographically diversified revenue base rather than depending on a single home market. That proven cross-border traction positions BOOKR to help define how literacy and language learning evolve in the AI era.
