European VCs investing in impact and sustainability (Part 4)

Welcome to Part 4 of European VCs investing in impact startups. If you’re looking to raise money to grow, also check Part 1, 2 and 3 of this series, as well as the following funds that back innovative start-ups and scale-ups focused on sustainability:

  • Barclays Climate Ventures - Barclays Climate Ventures aims to invest up to £500m by 2027 in scalable technologies enabling the net-zero transition across sectors including energy, real estate, and agriculture. By June 2025, it had committed £239m to more than 20 pioneering climate tech companies.
  • 4impact Capital - A European venture capital fund investing in digital ventures that address planetary and social challenges, targeting market-rate returns through scalable, high-impact technologies (SFDR 9) from Seed to Series A.
  • Sandwater - Sandwater backs early-stage companies in resource efficiency, energy transition, productivity and resilience is our sweet spot. They write checks up to €10M for Seed to Series B startups in the Nordics and Northern Europe.
  • Industrya - This fund invests in industrial start-ups and scale-ups providing sustainable solutions to meet societal challenges of the 21st century: new materials, Industry 4.0 and energy transition.
  • Clean Growth Fund - A £101m UK-based climate VC fund backing early-stage innovators reducing emissions and boosting resource efficiency in sectors including energy, transport, industry, buildings, waste, and water.
  • Kompas VC  - Investing in innovative technology for the manufacturing industry and the built environment. Kompas has €300 million in assets under management across two fund generations and invests up to €5M in Seed to Series B start-ups.
  • Planet First Partners - An Article 9 growth equity fund investing in purpose-led, tech-enabled businesses that deliver sustainable growth. It combines deep investment and sustainability expertise with guidance from a global advisory board of mission-aligned leaders.
  • Blume Equity - This climate-tech growth equity firm is based in London and Amsterdam, and they are investing in companies driving sustainable impact for people and the planet. It partners with visionary founders proving that purpose and profit can grow together.
  • Seaya Andromeda - VC focused on Series B+ / Growth startups or Tech Private Equity, investing up to €40M in startups addressing challenges in Energy, Decarbonization, Circular Economy, Sustainable Food Value Chain or Tech for Resource Efficiency.
  • Rubio Impact Ventures - VC investing in 3 main areas: circular solutions, people power and healthy systems. They back Seed and Series A startups especially from the Netherlands and NW EU.
