French startup Spark Cleantech has secured €30 million in Series A funding (€17 million in equity). The funding will support its clean-tech solution designed to replace fossil-fuel combustion and cut emissions in industries like glass, metal, polymers, and batteries.
The financing was co-led by 360 Capital and Taranis, with additional backing from the Île-de-France Reindustrialisation Fund (launched by the Île-de-France Region and managed by Innovacom) and participation from Asterion Ventures, a long-term supporter of the company.
"Following our seed round in the summer of 2023, we succeeded in deploying a first industrial pilot in under a year. We have validated clear market traction and assembled a world-class international team. This funding will enable the scale-up that industrial players are seeking to reduce their carbon footprint cost-effectively and to accelerate commercial deployment," said Patrick Peters, Co-Founder of Spark Cleantech.
Launched in 2022 from CentraleSupélec’s research labs, Spark Cleantech has engineered a pulsed plasmolysis-based solution that slashes emissions by 85% and yields two decarbonised products-solid carbon and hydrogen-together offering four times the economic value of conventional methods.
The company is building a breakthrough process that eliminates the need for fossil-fuel combustion in high-temperature furnaces and material manufacturing, offering a fully CO₂-free and cost-effective alternative. Crucially, the technology can be integrated into current industrial workflows with minimal modification.
With the new capital, Spark Cleantech will speed up its scale-up efforts. The company plans to complete and run its first production module, then deploy the solution to industrial partners. In parallel, it will work on qualifying its first commercial carbon products, one of the two outputs generated through pulsed plasmolysis. The team also expects to expand, adding about 20 new experts across sales, engineering, and R&D. The company has raised €34 million since inception.
